For making the fight against leukaemia his priority in life and for taking his voice to the four corners of the world in favour of the fight against this illness. He is known for his success in the world of Opera. However, one of his greatest achievements was the creation of the José Carreras Foundation in 1988, born with the objective of turning leukaemia into a curable illness.
