Belén Garijo

For being one of the female Spanish executives who have gone the furthest in international business through her work at Merck, the German science and technology multinational, where she will take over as Chair of the Executive Board and CEO in May 2021. A medical doctor, she has spent most of her career in the pharmaceutical sector in different countries, working at companies such as Abbott, Rhône Poulenc, Aventis Pharma and Sanofi Aventis, in addition to Merck. She is also a member of the PhRMA (Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America) Board and an Independent Director of the Board at BBVA and L’Óreal.
