Conservas Antonio Alonso

Conservas Antonio Alonso, which dates back to 1873, is currently the oldest operating canning company in Spain. The founder, Don Antonio Alonso Santodomingo, emigrated to Cuba at an early age and on his return to Vigo founded the company that carries his name. When the company starts to be run by the second generation, adopts the name of Antonio Alonso – Sons, strengthening its international presence under the brand name of “Palais d’Orient” and supplying France and Belgium, the most aware canned seafood markets of the time.

It has always offered high quality products, this being demonstrated by several milestones along its existence, such as the participation of the company in the Brussels International Show of 1922, as well as the visit of King Alfonso XIII to the factory in 1927. In 1947 the company becomes a limited company, changing brand to its current flagship name of “Palacio de Oriente”. Thirty years later turns into a corporation and consolidates as one of the industry leaders, maintaining and enhancing, as trademarks, the adaptation to market needs and product quality faithfulness.

Other brand names are registered such as “Ardora”, “Albatros”, “Alonso” … in order to meet different domestic and international markets.

Currently the company runs one processing plant, a warehouse and one main office headquarters. In every process, long experience and know-how is combined with the highest state-of-the-art technology. The quality policy aims to provide the highest guarantee products and services at the best value for money. Has been a pioneering company in obtaining ISO 9001 certification, followed by other such as ISO 14001, IFS or BRC.

Approximately 20% of the turnover comes from the presence of Palacio de Oriente in international markets, mainly Europe, Latin America, USA and Japan.
