IFEMA Madrid

IFEMA, is at the forefront of the international trade fair facilities, organisation and services sector.

Since 1980, when public consortium IFEMA was formed, it has been working as an independently managed trade fair operator. Its financial solvency and self-management model make it the only Spanish trade fair institution that does not receive public subsidies.

IFEMA organises its own trade fairs with its own brands, benchmarks in their economic sectors, as well as managing and marketing its infrastructures and services as a venue for holding congresses, exhibitions and corporate, sports and cultural events. The main international references in its brand portfolio are FITUR, ARCOmadrid and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, as well as sector events such as FRUIT ATTRACTION, SICUR, and MATELEC, among others, all very important dates on the international calendar. A total of 35 of its exhibitions are classed as international by the Ministry of the Economy and Competitiveness.

Highly specialised and internationally recognised as one of Europe’s leading trade fair operators, IFEMA has strengthened Madrid’s position as a city for doing business and a destination for significant international events, positioning it among the world’s most important cities for congresses.

Year-on-year, it makes progress with its mission with its successful international expansion of its activity. IFEMA currently has representatives in around 30 countries, and is a global operator in Latin America, Asia and Europe, organising its own brand trade fairs and participating in consultancy projects, advising on facility management and specialised meetings in Africa and the Middle East. As well as working abroad, it supports and advises Spanish companies on international participation and access to new markets.

It owns the Feria de Madrid trade fair venue, 200,000 square metres of exhibition space with modern, versatile architecture, equipped with technology to provide services to exhibitor companies, operators, trade professionals and the general public, as well as the IFEMA Palacio Municipal, an avant-garde building with 30,000 useful square metres, arranged in a large auditorium with capacity for 1,812 seats, and more than thirty multi-purpose rooms of different capacities.

Approximately 900 events take place on the site every year, including the 120 trade fairs in its portfolio in which almost 33,200 companies take part, which are visited by 4,3 million visitors from all over the world. These activities make it Madrid’s second most important economic driver, with a financial impact of 5,100 million euro and 39,000 jobs.

IFEMA’s aims to support business activity, giving coverage to companies, associations, trade professionals and entrepreneurs by organising trade fairs, projects and initiatives with added value to foster business activity, innovations, competitiveness and internationalisation. It also works to stimulate business tourism with its trade fair and congress schedule by developing new events and generating and attracting significant congresses and international events to the facilities.
